That's not good...
I see the beginnings of some trichoderma between whatever the weird spots are. You've got some mold, sorry:frown:
hope you have other jars...

I'd at the least move that cake AWAY from the other cakes. It's hard to tell, but it looks like you may have some trich starting in the lower cluster of dots...but it could be bruising as well. It's too small and too early to tell.

Regardless, the dots are NOT a good sign. It's definitely some kind of mold though.

All I can say for the cause: sterile technique...although contamination happens man. It's ok, just make sure you take extra care next time. It's rarer for cakes to contaminate after colonization, so may have been out of your power.

For sure, plenty of FAE will combat contamination during fruiting. Perhaps it could have used some more fanning/misting.
Good luck with the other cakes!

That cake in my hands would be already down the toilet. Just put it in a plastic bag and dump it. You have other cakes, don't risk them. Go for it again with the extra jars you have/find/buy. But dump it ASAP.

throw that thing away.  if it did fruit (i remember hearing a contamed cake will never fruit anyways) would you still want anything to do with the fruits?  and i've come to think my success with this hobby has come mainly from my brand new home with absolutely zero previous mold.  i would be careful about introducing those bad spores to your hobby area, which happens to be your home.  just my 2 cents im still a noob tho

That does not look good at all. I would take advantage of the fact that it's going to be the 4th of July soon.. and.. 'get rid' of that cake.. lol. That pink spot at the top of your pic looks very unsettling as well. I wouldn't let that cake out of my sight if I were you.. I just don't trust it:crazy2:

Doesn't matter what type of mold it is it's contaminated more than likely due to your direct misting technique. Way over watere there bro you may better off with a splash shield in place. Learn how to mist it's the same for cakes as it is for any substrate cased or not. You'll be glad you did!!! GL

Dude throw that cake out asap. Looks alot like pics of Aspergillus flavus which is a very toxic mold.

http://www.shroomery.org/images/23418/Aspergillus_flavus.jpg

http://www.shroomery.org/images/23418/aspergillus4.jpg

regardless it is some kinda mold and potentially dangerous to your health. Nevermind the fact that molds sporalate like crazy and spread like wild fire.

I was just going to say it looks like one of the many species of aspergillus, but Arcane beat me to it.  If anything, bury it in a flowerbed outdoors.  The mycelium can often fight off molds outdoors, but not in a terrarium, especially one without sufficient ventilation.  Drill bigger holes or prop the corner of the lid open or something.
