first monotub grow casing question

This is my first go a monotub and I plan on using a verm only casing layer. Do I apply the casing layer before the substrate is fully colonized or open it up and do it when I fruit? Also how thick should the casing layer be?

I think you apply it after substrate has re-colonized. You fruit it when mycelium is poking through the casing

That link is in the archives. I think you need 50posts to be able to access it. ~Pixie~

no no... that would be useless.. what is your mycelium substrate??
you wont need to wait if you just use the thinnest casing layer possible

Erm, what?
Filthy666maggot AND Deoxy, head to the archive (top of the cultivation forum), check out some previous grows and do some reading. Its all in there. And Deoxy, if you're going to hand out tips, back them up or at least explain them.
What do you mean "just use the thinnest casing layer possible"? Are you suggesting he applies this casing layer before 100% colonization or after? How this is this casing layer you speak of?

I'm using WBS spawned to coir wormcastings and verm please explain I thought the purpose of a mono was not having to open it. So wouldn't it make since to apply a thin layer of verm as a casing before I close it up?
