Third try, first success.

First try I got 1 mushroom. Second failed miserably, two jars not a single one pinned, for a month, and I did everything to initialize pinning, so I threw them away. Third try, two jars, this and another one that has some unknown mold in it (that is getting eaten by mycelium) I have a thread about it in contamination forum, anyway enough about sad thing here is my first real success.
It has been in dark draw for 2.5 weeks before it got fully colonized, then I put the jar on my desk so it will get some indirect sunlight all the time, and I put it in direct sunlight for few minutes once a day, so I got quite a few knots first two days, after five days I had pins in the jar, so I birth it, and that is how it looks now:

I didn't dunk and roll because I had no vermiculite left, and it has only been 3 week in total since I made that jar so there should be plenty of water in the cake.

see if you can find an old jar lid or one you used to put under the cake. Word has it that mycelium can eat through aluminum foil

Oh yea thanks, I just read about it few days ago when people used aluminum trays, but I never connected that with putting cakes on aluminum...
My jars has glass locks that are attached to the jar, but I can use small plate or something instead then.

i think with the tray having thicker aluminum compared to foil it will not eat through it, probably if left there for a while leave a spot or something..

I'm not sure about that. I think you should have at least dunked that cake for the better yield...

change the verm to perlite in the shotgun fc then you'll have verm to dunk and roll- which needs to be done. These are very small efforts to make a lot bigger difference!

Congratulations on your first successful grow man!
Is that perlite in your FC though? Just looks like gravel to me.

for sure dunk and roll next flush my yields drastically improved. I would deff change out that gravel for perlite like kinder said will be much easier to maintain correct RH. Looking good though enjoy your first grow!

Hi, ok, i'll dunk next time even if I run out of vermiculite. (But I bought vermiculite to dunk and roll for second flush).
Na that's not vermiculite on in the FC its volcanic rocks. I bought them initially to use instead of vermiculite in the jars as experiment because I couldn't find vermiculite, but I finally managed to get vermiculite, but I still can't find perlite, so I used those volcanic rocks instead of perlite.
I have digital RH meeter that goes to 95% and I do get it up to 95% wit volcanic rocks and probably more because my meeter dies after one hour in FC, the screen goes blank so I have to take it out and vent some moist from it to get the screen working again

Digital hygrometers are junk.
If down the road you want to invest in a new one, then buy an analog one and be sure to calibrate it.

Many people actually suggest to just dunk after the first flush, and don't roll.

first cake: flushed 12g first flush and around the same for the following flushes.
Second cake: broke up in a ziplock bag, dumped it in a tray and covered with verm. Set up for 3 days and put it in my FC. Yielded 35g from first flush and around the same afterwards.

Sweden, there is a store that claims that they sell vermiculite and perlite through different retailers, and I visited two of those retailers that are around here and neither of them had perlite, but luckily they told the truth about vermiculite.

Aren't there any cannabis grow shops? They usually hold perlite. It's the only place I can find perlite here in Portugal.
