sound business with substraight?
    #10608767 - 07/02/09 09:22 AM (15 years, 6 months ago)

I'm curious to know who here has been pleased in doing business with Substraight.

Their site displays very good reviews so I'm trying to make sure that those are legitimate reviews.

And where else to find out than here? I mean it does seem a little odd that they would display an amanita on the front page, no?

I don't want to doubt their integrity, I just want to know that others have done business with them and have been pleased with their purchase.

Never heard of them and can not seem to find a link to them.

It is safe to stick with the Shroomery vendors because the shroomery validates that they are not some fly by night company and they make sure the quality stays high.

I would suggest that you stick to the vendors of the board and help support the community.

I would hope they return to the community here or that someone else offer pre-sterilized BRF jar packs (3 packs, 6 packs, 12 packs or even single pint jars).

They were on the sponsor list til some drama regaridng mangement or something.

See, I have a bit of a paranoic streak, and my overactive imagination wonders whether they could be some sort of rogue anti-mycologist group that would poison their products. Sounds batshit crazy I know.

And I also know that such a scenario is in this case highly unlikely, but the paranoia lingers due to uncertainty. Hence my posting this question.

If only I could just pick up some pre-sterilized jars at a local mycology hobby shop, but those aren't in existence yet.

So I'm just looking for reassurance from previous satisfied customers.

Or they were a vendor, dont seem to be a vendor now.

List of Shroomery Vendors

Besides EzRad, you asked what happened to them and got an answer HERE That covers why they are no longer a vendor. From reading the response I would not order from them. That kind of stuff causes more issues that I need to deal with.

pressure cooker isn't as much of an issue as is finding the right type of vermiculite. interestingly in my area there seems to be a very narrow range of vermiculite grade available.

some of the verm i had bought at one time had these weird metallic looking flakes in it. and then when i went ahead and used it anyway, all three contammed. so at this point, i prefer to just buy pre-made ones from veteran cultivators.

the point of this thread is to hopefully hear from those who have had good experience in doing business with the vendor in question.

keep in mind that there's a couple of reasons someone may no
longer be a sponsor, sometimes they're not seeing enough business
from the shroomery to warrant the advertising costs, sometimes
they're not keeping it up to our standards of ethics, with the
latter it could be resulting from extremely slow deliveries, flat
out ripping people off or failing customer communication and
service when there is an issue, I dont know exactly what issues
occurred with substraight but I'd definitely look towards another
supplier

Remember that our sponsors pay to be sponsors. Also, we have these sponsors for a reason. If you have issues with your orders we can fix it with our sponsors. If you order from a non sponsor we have no control over your problem. That's one of the driving forces to editing out these links, it helps protect YOU in the end.

if the quality of the substrate is as sound as the communications with the store owner, then i should be a satisfied customer.

and if they're legit, i don't mind paying money for a reliable service.

laissez-faire trade, right?

of course, i'd much rather go through a community verified vendor.

All sizes and grades of verm will work.

The finer grades hold more water.

The metallic flakes are normal do not contribute to contamination.

well the fact that you dont see anyone going to bat for that particular vendor should tell you something. the reason people are suggesting current shroomery vendors is because they are known to be reliable and that should subside your paranoia.

+1
your jars did not contaminate due to the vermiculite.

ah I see x member then well http://www.shroomery.org/forums/images/smileys/confused.gif. How bad do you wanna use brf? you could go with a few rye bags like this.
http://www.mycopath.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_15&products_id=17
$10 a pop and I bet each bag is at least 6 pints. You can fruit em just like cakes

edit: stupid icon wont work :P
