now do you think when it becomes fully culminized ill be able to get the cake out?
look at the top of the jar how it curves in.
any input on that?

if your really lucky your cake might shrink enough to get it out, otherwise you have to case it i would presume.

it was injected with b+ spores.
vermiculite, brown rice flour, and distilled water was the substrate.
the jars are about 800 ml big.
i think next time im going to use 250ml jars because they are quicker and easier.

yeah. you will probably have to break it up in the jar with a fork once it fully colonizes and case it. you'll never get that thing out in one piece. i think it's called crumble cake tek or something.
good luck

your jar in the pic isnt a wide mouth, wide mouth is where the top is as wide as the whole jar all the way down
edit: ^half pints

Those are wide mouth quart jars though.. You are pretty much doomed here buddy because it will take forever for them to colonize that is why people suggest using 1/2 pints.. Also on the wide mouth 1/2 pints the mouths are wider then the jars so the cakes slide right out.

alright, would it be possible to let them culminize some of the way then break it up and get them out and put them in new 1/2 pint jars?

Na not really I mean it is worth a shot the problem is that you will be breaking them up which will weaken the mycelium and leave them vulnerable to bacteria and molds..

well i think ill let them fully "Colonize" and if i have to ill turn the jar upside down and break it or something. ill get them out somehow.
Also, i just looked at them, i think as long as the cakes shrink a little they will be able to come right out.

If you crumble it up when it is less than 100% it will be susceptible to contamination because the mycelium is weaker then. Leave it in there until it's 100%.

yeah im betting it will at least take a month.
i think im going to wait untill the cakes fully colonize and do whatever i can to get them out and put them in my terrarium.
next time im using half pint jars, which i have already obtained.
im thinking about steralizing the half pints and taking some of the mycelium from the cakes after they are fully colonized and put them in the sterile half pints.
would that be a good idea?

If you're going to have to crumble it to get it out anyway, you might as well grate it into small bits and spawn it to horse poop! Just do bulk trays because they're super easy and you can still use the shotgun FC.

could i just put about an inch of vermiculite on the bottom of a terrarium and break up the mycelium into about 1 inch pieces and spread it over the vermiculite?
Possibly mist the side of the terrarium for humidity?

From what I've read, a bottom layer of verm doesn't do anything, i dunno about using the terrarium itself like a monotub.

well i could use a clear plastic storage box and spread on the bottom of that.
should i even put anything under the mycelium or just put it in there?
