This is my first time spawning WBS to a bulk substrate I'm using coir wormcastings and verm. Should I PC it? Also I'm going to use monotubs should I use a casing layer?

no you pastuerize the bulk. I just put the coco coir in a rubbermaid add some verm and calcium along with cow shit and instant coffee, then I pour boiling water over it until the water is 2 inches above the bulk, let cool for 8 to 12 hours squeeze out the excess water and mix in the spawn.

If you sterilize it you will open it up to bacterial infections and molds giving them the upper hand. Pasteurize!

The only think I like to sterilize is vermiculite when I do the Rez Effect (spawn to equal amount of moist verm). All other bulk substrates are typically sterilized to NOT kill off the beneficial bacteria that fights off contam.
Honestly ... I'm just regurgitating what I've read time after time after time. All accept for the verm part ... I just sterilize it because it's easier and I've NEVER had a problem sterilizing that.

How to pasteurize with an oven and oven bags. This is a pretty clean process if you are careful!! Doesnt matter how dirty your oven is
- Line oven with aluminum foil so bags don't melt.
Preheat to 300f. Fill oven bags with shit... put in preheated oven.
Use meat thermometer to check internal temperature every 30-40 minutes depending on how much you are cooking.
When internal temp reaches 130f or so, turn oven heat down to 170. Set timer for 2 hours.
Check temp after first 30 minutes @ 170f. Should be at least 145- 150.
Continue to cook @170 for remaining time.
Final temp reading should be 165- 170f- let cool...

screw the oven all you need is a pot (or PC) and cooking thermometer...no need to get all complicated. The above link is idiot proof.
