Pick but leave the pins?

Ok, This has me a little confused. What do you do when the casing is so thick that you can not leave anything? When the mushrooms are so tight that you can not pick one but instead get large clumps that when everything is done leaves nothing on the surface?

The truth is, it puts out new pins and fruits again, I dont see the point in leaving pins. It still puts out a second flush. Unless that advice is for cakes.
You can even see where I pulled some off of this one.

Agreed most of the time pins are next to the clumps and abort anyway. But if it was a shitty flush then it would make sense to leave them. JMO CH

On my cakes, I leave the pins. They almost always survive the re-dunk. Any ones that dont turn black within one day, and the rest grow very fast and big. Nice grow, looks good.
And actually, while the pins from the first flush grow into mushrooms, the second flush pins form, and you get an "overlap" of flushes, meaning less downtime =0)
