FC Question
    #10603607 - 07/01/09 01:25 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

Well to start this is not my first grow i have done a couple of grows with cakes last year. I wasn't that happy with the yields since i have a green thumb i expected more i guess, so i kinda gave up on the myco. Well i have been reading allot again and kinda bored with the plants so i thought i would give this a shot again. I need a hobby that i can learn about again.

So i am gonna use the myg kit from MB. I am gonna put my own kits together the next time just thought it would be easier to use there's  this time.

I have been reading on the FC's the Martha and the automated GH and am not sure witch rout would be best for me i am gonna run all 3 kits. Also not sure if i need the ultrasonic and the humidifier using casings?

I have a clone box from home box that is not being used would this work for a FC? Here is a link to it.

http://www.homebox.net/dhtml/product_family_clonebox.php

Well thanks for reading and any advice or thoughts are much appreciated.

1) three hours is pretty quick for a bump.
2) watch these videos.
3) gh or martha? Which can you get? which can you build?
3a) do you need either? How about a shotgun?
4) kits are for suckers, just watch the videos.

OK thanks. I can get the stuff for either one. I was wondering f i really needed one since from what i am reading with casings they have enough moister on there own.

Sorry for the quick bump i am just one of those people that likes to get things planned out and i have allot of work to do before the spores and kits get here. Trust me i am reading and reading some more but trying to teach myself and it sometimes gets over whelming need a little reassurance about what i am doing.

Monotubs are popular, hit the search engine.
Personally, I've got a 4-tier greenhouse with ultrasonic.
But everybody has a different style.

You DO need a fruiting chamber! The casing provides humidity but the RH must stay where it should. Build one.

Even cased susbtrates need humidity otherwise they would dry out very quickly. for marthas and greehouse setups you need a humidifier, useually a coolmist is recomended on a timer, and a tray of perlite on a low shelf for when it isnt full.

Cakes can do pretty well if done right. Hell i even for 55 grams of 1 cake that was in a 2 litre soda bottle.

Will the Martha be big enough to fit 3 MYG kits in? To me it does not look big enough but i have only used cakes so not sure how much space the kits will need. I have no problem with building one and money is not a problem just don't want to do anything that is unnecessary. What humidifier and ultra should i buy the ones in the tek about automated GH?

I used the shotgun with cakes before if my memory serves me right i only got a  20g dry out of 6 cakes no contaminants.

We aren't here to do your homework. Get a tape measure.

Besides, nobody here will admit to knowing anything about kits.

Doc lots of posts for only joining 3 months ago. Lets cut the bullshit out about no one knowing anything. What because my post count is low you automatically assume i am a noob? Well i am sorta a noob i have done lots of reading and i can grow some of the best nugs a guy can grow. I do have a couple of grows under my belt with out failure so lighten up.

So don't act like i am not reading and doing my part i asked a few simple questions and you are so quick to tell me to do my homework.

If the tables were turned and you had a question about growing dank i would help you so if you don't want to help then don't.

I can not measure something i don't have yet. i would like to have the FC up and ready when the stuff gets here.

If you've read the forum much, you know that nobody here recommends kits. You can't measure it because you haven't bought it- but you can't buy it until you measure it. So ditch the kit. You can do it yourself for cheap.

And if it's a kit, why do you need a separate greenhouse? It should come with an FC. Or build a shotgun FC.

The only thing i have bought is the MYG from Mushbox. It does come with a FC but this time around i don't want to use the tubs i want to use a GH so i don't have to Fan and mist i want it automated. So are you saying the shotgun is better then the GH?

Here is the kit i got and it will be the only one i buy i plan on doing it myself after this. My reason for doing this is i wanted to see how they did things and use their kit for a little hands on before doing it myself.

Well, a properly tuned greenhouse is pretty spectacular.
But you can always add that in later. Shotguns are great but they take up more space space. Monotubs are space-efficient. So it all just depends.

But if you want to see how it's done, watch the videos. Or buy the full length version. Much better use of your money than any kit.

It all depends on how big your kit is. Is it even going to fit in a FC? You can always do a mono tub. those are a set it and forget it deal. Personally though your getting robbed if you buy that kit. WAY overpriced and you have no clue how fresh the supplies are. I mean you have no clue how long the jar of grain has been sitting in the guys garage. And if you read the directiond you dont even need to put it in a FC. the lid will hold in the humidity and ya will need to fan and mist daily. I wouldnt waste my money on it. And please dont post links to non-vendor sites.

Thanks for the input. I only bought 3 of them not that big of deal i no they are a rip off. I just wanted to get something going fast and then i will take my time  to make my own. I have PC AM 921 and all from when i did cakes.

I just have allot of homework to do before i try and make my grains and do it all on my own. So in my opinion money well spent its already done for me all i need to do is inoculate and i am on my way. Now i read while one is cooking.

OK after reading some more i am leaning towards mono tubs. Can someone help me out with my choice between GH and tubs.

I am just curios i have used the shotgun setup and it did not work the best for me. So this time around was gonna stay away from tubs but after reading monsters tek on mono tubs that to me looks like the way to go.

What are the pros and cons of both? also i will be using casings. Thanks
