rogerrabbit boiling grains?

I'm trying an experiment with soaking time and wish to do one set of jars with WBS that has only been soaked for a couple of hours. However, I read a post that roger rabbit said when he does this he will boil for just as long. (he gave an example of soaking for an hour and then boiling [NOT SIMMERING] for an hour before PC) I just wanted some details on boiling the grain. I would assume it's like cooking lentils or food, but I just figured I'd ask for future reference too

You can find his videos here: http://www.mushroomvideos.com/
I do wbs like he does rye, but I soak for four hours and boil ten minutes. An hour boil is just too long. It's not really like cooking food, but similar. You don't want it that well done. And remember you'll PC it too.

I've always soaked 24hrs this allows for endosperm germination and millet being a coated grain takes time for water to penetrate also a couple of drops of Jetdry works wonders.

i do not suggest you to soak grains with gypsum for 24 hours. they'll smell extremely bad! 12-16 hours is enough for me, in this case.

My favorite grains are brown rice and barley. Rye is good too, but for some reason my rice/barley mixture usually colonizes faster than rye.
I don't soak or boil. I simmer grains for 10-12 minutes.
I've tried a bunch of different ways, and that is what works best for me.
(The spoon test is a good method to optimize grain moisture.)

if RR says "soak it 12 to 24 hours" that means mushrooms like 12 hours soaked grains, too!
