Fruiting straight from the jar

Hi,
When using BRF style jars in the past, I would "birth" the fully colonized "cake" from its jar into a perlite layered terrarium, but I recently learned that one can fruit straight form the jar itself! So, if doing such, what sort of fruiting chamber would be most appropriate for a 'straight-from-the-jar' method?
Comments? Suggestions?
Thanks in advance for useful data.

The idea is to get the most our of what you have. Fruiting in the jar will reduce the possible out put of the cake. Best thing to do is Dunk & Roll Then put them on top of jar lids not directly on the perlite!
If you don't care & still want to fruit in the jar then use the same set-up Just put the jar directly on the perlite.

Hmm . . in that case what I will do is experiment; 3 straight from the jar and 3 naked. And will keep a log of the resulting variance in yield. Cool.

I have tried the in-the-jar method. The mushrooms tend to be smaller but seem to have really good potency.

You'll find that it yields a few fruits, noting special. Wrap some foil around the jar to reduce side pinning.
Back in the day, jar casing was used as a method of cultivation for some types of mushrooms, but today it is more of a niche technique. It's handy when you need a few fruits from spores or want a tissue clone. Or if you just have an extra jar laying around.

Smaller fruits are most definitely cool if you're only wanting a modest harvest.
Plus, fruiting directly from the jar may increase the number of flushes per jar, by inducing the mycelium to fruit from only the top surface of a cake.

Yesterday I was reading something written by some TC - don't remember who - he said it wasn't possible to fruit straight from WBS.

It's possible, it's not efficient. But I've fruited a block of colonized WBS like a cake- just pop it out of t he jar, and into the FC. And cased WBS can be surprisingly good too.

yes fruiting straight wbs doesnt work, but he has a casing layer which will supply the extra moisture needed to fruit, it does work.
Grains will fruit if mixed with verm or with a casing layer

Unless the grains are mixed with manure, they need to be cased. Quart jars filled with substrate 1/3 to 1/2 full work better for fruiting than half pints. RR
