Cobweb then myc, or myc then cobweb?
    #10592241 - 06/29/09 12:42 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

Hello fellow shrooms.
Got a question for you, might belong in the contam forum, but will probably get more attention here.

Cobweb then myc, or myc then cobweb?
I have a big filterpatch bag on the go at the moment, day 6 after spawning (WBS to straw/coir/worm castings/coir) and i THINK i might be seeing cobweb. Lots of the myc growth so far has started out fluffy and then turned rhizo, so its very hard to tell. Looking through the bag also rules out checking for a greyish color. I'd upload pics if I thought it would help, but trust me, it wouldn't.

The thing is, on day 4 it appeared, then on day 5 a nice healthy tree of aerial mycellium spurted right through the middle of it. Now, if it is cobweb, surely it would have killed the myc?

Ive been relatively lucky in avoiding contams so far, so please excuse me if I'm being a bit paranoid.

x

Give it a couple days without looking at it, or post pics.

Speed of growth points towards myc, but paranoia's a bitch!
