    #10588658 - 06/28/09 08:44 PM (15 years, 6 months ago)

So I soaked my perlite and it is drying out really fast in my chamber. I mist every few hours and when I go to see if it is damp it is not. what do I do? I was worried if I had to low of humidity at first but now that this problem happened I guess that went out the window

In my past experience I have found that the perlite might feel dry but in reality it's not, If your humidity is right and you put 4 inches in there then you should have no worries. I have gone a month with out having to rehydrate my perlite. Hope this helps.

Don't cover holes.  The perlite will maintain humidity for over a month without re-soaking.  As you mist, you replenish the moisture anyway.  The fact that the top of the perlite dries out tells you the terrarium is working as it should.
