Welcome to the Officail UK Reasource Guide. The aim of this guide is to provide a user friendly guide to all UK shroomery users, on what products work and were to find them. -If you would like to Submitt or add to this guide DO NOT POST it here. Post here >> #10546074 <<- A UK Reasource Guide -------------------------------- -------------------------------------
Product Name: Half-pint jars Source/Retailer: Barnitts Date [when found/purchased]: 2009 Use/Which Tek: PF Tek Price: £13 for 12 (+ £7 DHL next day shipping) Related thread: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Number/10529034 Note: Alternatives are Bonne Maman Conserve (£1.90/jar) and Tesco Finest Conserve (haven't seen this myself, but apparently £1.50/jar). A little larger than the half-pint jars, but work fine (plus you get lots of yummy jam )
--------------------------------- Product name: [gradient:#6BAEE8,#]Pressure cooker[/gradient] Source/Retailer: Argos Date: 2009 Use/Which Tek: Any that require PCing Price: £20-70, 4L-7L. Note: A 6L one holds four of the Barnitts half-pint jars
---------------------------------
Product name:[gradient:#6BAEE8,#] DeLonghi KG39 4g Coffee Grinder[/gradient] Source/Retailer: Argos Date: 2009 Use/Which Tek: BRF Grinding. Price: £20 Note: Good Brown rice grinder, several grinds on fine, does the trick.
---------------------------------
Product name: Fine mister Source/Retailer: Home Bargins Date: 2009 Use/Which Tek: Any Fruiting Bodies Price: 0.39 pence
--------------------------------- Product Name: Boots Essentials Feeding Bottles Source/Retailer: Boots Date [when found/purchased]: 2009 Use/Which Tek: Agar's Baby Bottle Liquid Culture Price: £2.99 for three bottles. Buy in-store, don't seem to be available online. Replacement teats £0.99 for three. Note: Most bottle teats seem to have anti-colic holes/filters to control the amount of air the baby sucks in. Good for baby, less so for a sealed LC bottle. These Boots bottles come with bog-standard latex teats with no filters. For attaching the teat to the bottle, some of the teks suggest using the same silicone sealant you use to create the injection port. I preferred the idea of glue and found some high-temp waterproof stuff in Homebase. Serious Glue by Evo-Stik, doesn't seem to be on their website. Testing it now, will report if any issues.
---------------------------------
Product name: Organic Brown Rice Flour Source/Retailer: Whole Foods, Planet Organic (both London only) Date: 2009 Use/Which Tek: PF Tek Price: £2.50 for 500g Note: If you've got a coffee grinder / food processor, brown rice is easy enough to find, but the pre-ground stuff is a bit trickier. I didn't see it in any of the major supermarket chains (they sell a rice flour, but it's a brown/white blend) or Holland and Barrett. If you're in London, Whole Foods and Planet Organic both sell it.
---------------------------------

-I didn't off site link, the contributors provided the information.
-You seem to be the first person not to like it, yeah agreed it has some down sides, but everyone talks of where to get 'x' from wallmart, this is no diffrent and I don't see you critique those posts.
-I shall add as you please, yeah you can add on the other post, no problem, but wait you said you'd be breaking rule 2, so you would be contridicting your own quotation.

I've heard about this rule, but never actually seen it. Where is it?
Also, as far as I can tell without seeing the rule, it applies to Shroomery sponsor competitors, i.e., spore suppliers, etc. It would be a little silly if we couldn't suggest where to get baby bottles, canning jars, etc.
As for the spore vendors, apart from MRCA, as far as I know all the sponsors are US/Canada-based. For various reasons, I believe UK growers would prefer to buy from UK-based suppliers. While this resource guide does not reference spore suppliers, I think it's a bit silly not being able to link to UK suppliers if there aren't any UK sponsors.

you are alowed to mention them. you just cant create links to their websites. i think thats pretty understandable.
this is the from The Shroomery and mushroom cultivation, a newcomers guide.

Thanks for the link, though unclear what is meant by "mushroom-related stuff"
This is probably better discussed with a mod, but if the point is to protect the sponsors, the current links in this guide should be no problem. The sponsors don't sell baby bottles, canning jars, etc.
Even for more mushroomy things, it still seems silly not being able to post links to UK suppliers if the sponsors predominantly serve the US market.
Anyway, since it seems we can mention UK spore suppliers, as long as we don't link to them, I think it would be helpful for people to post their thoughts on companies they've used so we can try and find the good ones.
I've personally bought spores and MycoFarm mycobags from Red Eye Frog and spores from Plants and Cacti. It's a bit early in my research career to post my thoughts, but I will at a later date.

if it's mushroom related but not sold by our vendors then there's no real issue, given that most of our sponsors are in north america I can see consessions being made for those outside of the states on some items, it's pointless to spend $60 to ship $8 worth of canning jars
