 Im gonna start a new Tek!

A tek almost no one has heard of! I call it the mass or bulk brf or wwf tek!
Heres how my plan is:
I already have two glass bowls, one 3-pint and one 5-pint. I didnt buy the 8-pint since I doubt itll fit in the PC. Then I plan to use the same stuff thats used in the 1/2 pint pf tek. whole wheat flour, water mixed with verm. Then I add a dry verm layer an inch thick. Cover an inch and a half of the top of bowl with aluminum foil and PC for 90 min since its a large area to sterilize. Basically the same as the 1/2 pint but larger so Ill get more shrooms. and im gonna use EQ strain, they grow crazy fast. its been 5 days and my 20 ounce glass is already having growth half way to the bottom on one side and all 4 innoculation points have grown a mycellum circle. Its thick white so cant be cobweb. I say 3 weeks before entire jar is done. The large bowl will take maybe 4-5 weeks

is it different enough to have its own name or is it nothing more than a "modified" pf tek? an analogy could be said if someone uses the pf tek, but instead of verm, he uses "something" else thats just as good as verm, would that deserve its own tek?

never had a contam so Ill take my chances. even the 1/2 pint jars that took 6 weeks to colonize didnt contam. accroding to my math, the odds of this contaming is only slightly higher than the pint jars. i calculate itll take 5 weeks for EQ to colonize it.
lets do the math:
I have 9 and 20 ounce jars with EQ. the mycellum grows an inch in all directions each 3 days. so therefore a tall skinny jar and a short wide jar with equal volumes, the wide jar would colonize faster. The furthest part is what I measure, since the mycellum would conlonize all closer points by then. in this case, the height of the said containers takes the longest and since the bowls are as tall as the 1/2 pint jars, why would it take much longer?

Why bother modifying the PF-Tek? Just use a real substrate, that isn't 80% rock.

true, also known as a fishbowl, but theres little difference between that and a cylindar with its height and base equal.

but the opening does not change. the point is, the area furthest from innoculation site would take the longest. an analogy would be the flow of water in the pipes. if you stick a hose in the middle, the longer end takes longer to get wet. if the pipe is a T shape then which ever end is longest. you see?

to be honest im doing the cake as an experment to try to prove it works as good just takes a a week longer. lets see I successfully pull the feat off with no contams and 4 week colonization time

There so is advanced talent and luck in getting a 3 or even 5 pint bowl to grow using a highly modified verson of the pf tek! has any of you even tried any other containers besides 1/2 or 1 pint?

All you are gonna get is a big bowl of green or cobweb cause it will take so damn long for it to colonise. And it isn't really talent getting a large amount of BRF to colonize, its more stupidity to wait so long for a pretty weak substrate.

Well it took so long, shit I wish that I had written it down at the time so I knew how long for sure, but it was at least two months, I did three quart jars, two of them contaminated, the third I cased with sterilized poo ( I know, I know, it was back in my stupid days) And that thing spit out 4 huge fruits and quickly contaminated, suprise suprise.

sorry to hear man! how did two of them contaminate and after how long? I am using 20 ounce jars now which is 12 ounces away from 32 and they are 1/4 colonized after 6 days! I plan to grow them off cakes. stupid to some, but its an experment, if nothing else

I have to agree with everybody else, there is absolutely nothing new about this idea. When a newbie first gets to growing he gets excited thinking about all the possibilities, but he should aslo think twice about starting a newbie idea related thread in the advanced forum. As for brf, yeah it sucks and it's weak, but if you don't like animal shit in your house and you don't have a pc(grains) then it's not so bad an alternative. Your experiment: if you knock up that bowl thing with enough inoculum(mycelial syringe...see honey tek or similar) it could colonize in 8 days. Something you might find interesting, I've had nothing but success using colonized brf/verm cakes to spawn more sterilized brf verm with spawn/pseudo bulk substrate(brf isn't a real bulk substrate) ratios approaching 1:10. If you mix it up 1:1 you may see full colonization in 3-5 days. Anyway, have fun with your experiments, but realize that many people have had these ideas before.

No it doesn't, it doesn't take anymore skill than doing 1/2 pints, it just takes much longer, damn dude, sterilizing for 90 instead of 60 min is not REAL skill.

I guess you have to have someone you can call dumbass. We already have LSA and Z though. I think they should have a special forum that only they are allowed to post in. Sort of like having a special mod forum. That way they could help each other with there "ideas", so that the close minded people like ourselves don't get in the way.
