This is a tray of Puerto Ricans I spawned rye to h-poo 5 days ago @ 3 inch depth or so.  I was very surprised at the white canvas that I saw when I took a look today.  The myc. just seems too fluffy to me....Could it be Trich myc.?  If you need more detailed pics let me know..

For all I know I could be completely wrong but this tray just doesn't look like any others in the past.  Thank you for any insight...

That is healthy mycelium. I see no contamination.

I agree that your substrate is way too wet. You should avoid standing water, especially on top of your substrate. I wouldn't use anything to blot the water in this case. Your substrate is very close to pinning, and blotting the water, no matter how gently, will disturb the process and hinder you from getting a nice pinset.

Your best bet is to try to pour off the excess water and provide extensive fresh air exchange until pin formation which, judging by the pictures, should be a few days after the excess water is removed.

If you look in the top left corner the mycelium turns a dark color.. isn't that something of concern? I heard when cobweb mold ages it turns dark.

If not the batch looks great!  Let us know progress.

Whenever i trade for spores it is for examining the spores under microscopes to see their characteristics. There is no reason why I would ever want to nor will I grow mushrooms containing psilocybin while in the USA.:alert:
