bucket tek questions

ok so i found the bucket tek and im loving how easy it sounds and how many shrooms people have been getting. i have a few questions about my set up.any info would be nice. hopefully a bunch of people dont just look at this and i actually get replies. thanks for the help. well im gonna order 5 1LB grow bags from The Mad Season cause i read all good things about them and it seems like a deal....5 for $45. ill might knock one bag up at a time, and then break it up and spawn to one or two pounds of coir. so i will have 3 pounds of myc. I know for trays in an fc you dont want more than 4 inches of sub. question 1: should i only put 4 inches on sub at the most in my buckets? im gonna mix the myc and coir in the bucket and let it colonize the coir in the bucket. is that a good idea? question 2: if i do let it colonize in the bucket should i put holes in the bucket and cover with cloth tape? then once it sat for a week or so remove the cloth tape and put polyfill in the holes for fea to start fruiting?and now my last question for now... question 3: do i mist twice a day to keep humidity high? and i mist on the walls not the myc, correct? thank you everyone for all the help. thanks for reading my long ass post lol

1) 4 inches is considered to be optimal substrate depth. A deeper substrate is unlikely to increase yields beyond what 4 inches will produce.
2) There are numerous ways you could do this part. The key thing is that you want primarily gas exchange to take place during the colonization of the bucket and then later you want air exchange to induce pinning. To achieve this you could make holes and stuff them with polyfil right away and then place a plastic bag over the bucket. Then when it is full colonized, take the plastic bag off and give it some light - this will increase the FAE and induce pinning. You could also probably get away with it colonizing just fine if you covered the holes in cloth tape and didn't use a plastic bag, but I prefer the plastic bag method.
3) The bucket tek is basically the same as a monotub, just in a bucket. So you could probably get away with misting it just once when you introduce to fruiting conditions and then letting it go. However, I sometimes mist my monotubs if they look like they need a humidity boost. In that case you should mist lightly directly onto the substrate as well as the sides of the bucket. Always fan after misting too - evaporation of moisture is a major pinning trigger.

I'm looking into it for beech mushrooms. I haven''t got all the details worked out but I'm gathering info. Here's what I got.
Three inches of sub only. when mixing use more colonized grain in the top inch.It will colonize faster and make a barrier.
Micropore tape over the holes, four 3/4 inch holes up top and two holes at the substrate level for CO2 to drain out. So the bottom of the lower two holes will be at the 3 inch level for me. I'm gonna cover the bottom 2 taped over holes with plastic wrap for colonization and remove the plastic for fruiting.
If you use a casing layer it has to be thin like less than 1/2 inch. This will get you to fruiting as fast as possible so you don't waste energy or moisture on a vegetative grow state.
Cover with a shower cap and push it down during colonization.
Still looking for beech mushrooms, none at the store this week, will look again later.
I haven't done it yet but so far those are my plans, they may not be suitable for what you are growing, adjust accordingly. If you are growing cubes you will want to use manure (yuck!) beech can do without.

I too am considering a monotub style grow and saw this thread. I really loved the plastic bag/polyfill idea, just wondering if you could tell me how many holes and the size drill bit I should use.
