This is an odd, question that I thought the answer to was yes. I understand that plants and mushrooms aren't the same thing, but in a way they're kind of similar. sorry, if I'm a complete idiot but that's just my take on it. When you remove them from the ground or your growth medium they stop growing because the growth medium(grass, dirt, wood) is what fuels them. But if you "plug" them back in per-say shouldn't it all start happening again.

The other day I found what I believed to be Amanita Muscaria var formosa(excuse me I understand this is a false title to it, but it's what I call them) the bottom of the stipe which was invisible to me so I plucked it out of the ground and I still believed it to be the fly agaric. However it was to small, and I respect the mushroom so catch and release I put it back in the ground. To answer this question I guess I'll go see the mushroom and tell you if it has grown or not.

Would this work for a home grow, I'm not sure but at least I could tell you if mushrooms have the ability to do so.

This is more like a total head transplant than grafting hops.
