As a serious answer to a stupid an insufficiently considered question, let me say: You can transplant a pin from a cake onto another growth medium like an agar plate.

Sure you can stick it right back on but first you'll need some mycotape and a couple of mycocrutches to help hold it up. Seriously!

rent a time machine; then go back to before you introduced fruiting conditions.

I lauged at this the first time i read it, but silly as it may sound it could be possible but idk. mycelium from fruitbodys can still grow, even dried tissue can be hydrated and start growing.
We know mycelium can be broken apart and it will repair itself to form a complete network again. So maybe a fruit could rejoin itself with the cake? Whether the fruit would continue to grow is another question.

Actually, it can be done, I have done it(with a cake, not too sure how good it would work with a casing or bulk sub). No tape or crutches needed if you hillbilly rig it right!
Why bother though?
Experience has taught me that your sub will keep on producing shrooms, so why make it put forth the effort to heal a connection to a fruit and keep growing it when it can concentrate on growing another fruit body.

The most obvious thing here is if it were possible by the time it mended itself the fruitbody would be more than mature and sporulating all over the place. I don't see that ever happening though cell restructure would have to be uniform the myc would have to sense this. Although myc is smart I don't think that would ever take priority over the generation of more fruitbodies. I'd say go with the mycotape and crutches!

I knew a guy who tried to do this with a finger he whacked off with a jigsaw. All it really did was start to smell funny after a couple of days, never really reattached itself.
