many times emotion gives people the drive to do things thaey need to. like doings thigns out of love or anger or revenge. emotions can give you the drive you need to accomplish something.
they can also cripple you. i think the trick is to heed your emotions but not be ruled by them.

^^ yup.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

IMHO,

Fear == biosurvival mechanism to keep your DNA safe and sound
Love == urge to procreate and therefore ensure your DNA's survival
[you can surely identify which of the many feelings called 'love' I speak of]
Happiness == evolution's 'carrot' to push you towards whatever it wants you to do (by making those results cause happiness)
Suffering == evolution's stick to keep you a nice productive procreating protein factory

Get the idea?

However, I do not care about my DNA. I am a evolutionary failure. There is a reason why smart people aren't very common. They transcend their programming and are bred out of the population.

Note that 'emotions' is a catch-all term which includes many different types of biological response, some of which are 'bugs' in our blindly-engineered systems. Society changes too fast for evolution to work now, so emotions aren't even good for our DNA.

I don't understand, are u saying smart people don't wanna procreate or that they are not able to by the society (for whatever reason)
