Lame pull over

last night my brother sister-law, and my girlfriend took my dad out for Father's day. Afterwards my brother, sis law and girlfriend went out for drinks.
It was about 1230 when left the bar i had 2 drinks in 3 hrs. totally fine. I'm going down the main drag and this cop pulls me over out of nowhere. he tells me the reason he pulled me over is my license plate light is out?? WTF?? Is this a real "safety" issue with a car/truck? I thought only if it's a public safety issue that warren-ts a pull over?
What i notice before going into the bar was a cop setting near a parking lot. I believe they where marking/writing down license #. College is out and it's slow in that town. Fuckers have nothing better to do? Lame. now i got to fix the light on my 12 year old truck. which most likely the wires are rusted off.

They'll pull you over for looking funny these days. At least nothing came of it besides a fix-it ticket, I assume.

That is a valid reason to pull someone over and they get people for that all the time.
I got pulled over for that reason about a year ago, and my license plate light wasn't even out, kind of dim though. Too bad I didn't notice until the cop was leaving.
I replaced the bulbs with much brighter ones and cleaned the plastic window that covers the bulbs and haven't had the same problem since.
Everyone should check their license plate light, make sure it works and its bright enough for cops to see it.
Its not uncommon for cops to watch people leaving bars and its a good idea to park a couple blocks away.

I've had the same thing happen. Driving along and then an asshole cop pulls me over and tells me my license plate light is out. He didn't give me a ticket for it. He just asked me a bunch of Q's and let me go. I hate it when cops pull people over just to get into peoples business. that shits just not right. funny thing is that I was high as hell but he couldn't tell..... Stupid cops!!!
