 whoops! my first grow, and are these day to eat???

hey, what's up everyone? i've been lurking on these boards for a couple months now soaking up tips and info :]. i finally started to grow my first culture, and unfortunately forgot about them and they sprouted in the jars!!! please don't laugh, it's my first time... anyway, the only reason i'm posting my pathetic grow is because a) it's my first grow, and i'm damn proud, however pathetic a harvest, and b) i'm not sure if these are safe to eat -- ANYONE KNOW?? some of the jars originally started to get taken over by the black death mold, but i read on the shroom wizzard's site that if i leave them alone the shroom mycellium would take it back over. after leaving them for too long, i just checked them tonight and discovered shrooms. some shrooms look very healthy, whereas others look like they may have aborted awhile ago and have been sitting in the jars, and are slightly green inside but still meaty. they smell like regular button shrooms at the market (sorry if this all sounds dumb). i'm doing my best to remove the tiny trace amounts of vermiculite still stuck to some of them, but would you say it's safe to eat? if so, i'm eating them tonight without bothering to dry them, and if they are please let me know do i don't die!! thank everyone, i hope to be posting more as i get better at this growing thing ;]. )by the way, these were f+'s)

im far from an knowledgable at this..but if all that on ur cakes is mold...they dont eat it! It may just be me but it doesnt look healthy at all...wait for some educated replies tho!

Welcome Shroomchick! if you had posted right when you first discovered this blackness, then everyone would have told you to toss the cakes. They still look as though they are contamed, I say toss the cake, and the fruits. I know it hurts but you said you don't want to die! and how could you forget about your cakes like that? shame on you! but don't you have any cakes that turned out ok? If so you can use that to spawn some grain, or make some mycelium water. But anyway, I honestly think that you should NOT EAT THE FRUITS, and learn from your experience. most of the green stuff on the picked shrooms is bruising. ugh... i really don't want to throw these away. i've been waiting MONTHS for some shrooms since i can't really buy them around here :[ ...oi vey

you have two choices:
1. risk your health and eat the shrooms
2. play it safe and throw em away and next time, actually watch your cake daily!

WOW! Those shrooms look so cool!  I think you must go for it.. Just find a nice place and nice friend to stay with. See you shroom! They are enough for your first time. You can wait for other replys, but I don't know if you do. Just my opinion.

actually, your cakes look rotten on the inside, see pic #1. They should be a consistant white color throughout the cakes. I dump any cakes showing any signs of color other than white and fluffy (or stringy white). Just my 2 cents...

the first time i ate shrooms they came off of a contaminated casing. of course i didn't find this out until two hours into the trip and i got violently ill. cold sweats, tremors, vomitting and horrible visions. i've gotten nauseous from shrooms that were too potent, but it was nothing similar to what i suffered with the contaminated ones. i really thought my kidneys or liver was going to shut down. if you have any self control and/or common sense, you will not eat those. mycology teaches patience really is a virtue.

I am not BAKER , as in pf cake maker , but those most definetly look contaminated , get rid of them and all that has come in contact with that . The Mushroom Goddess is very displeased you neglected to take proper steps to prevent such sickly mushies ! She would make you very sick if you ate those ! Try try again !

Don't eat those. And on a serious 2 and a half percent tip mushrooms bruise BLUE not green. Think about it.

They look contaminated to me. I'd toss them.
As for the your grow method, forgetting about them and having them sprout in the jars, it's a legitimate grow method. Look into Hippie's "Neglect Tek," or "Invitro Tek."

if you really like the idea of having a violent, horrible purging of toxins from your body by method of projectile vomit that just might not stop for hours then i say go for it. i have eaten quite a few shrooms and i have eaten some questionable ones, but those....... your best bet would be to try to make some honey water if at all possible....... and count your losses and start over. better luck next time.

I only see maybe 1 or 2 that I'd even maybe consider puttiing in my mouth... Not even enough to feel anything. So, I would play it safe and throw it all out. Hey --- Atleast you know you CAN grow shrooms. Next time, you will be successfull.

if your one of those people who maybe smokes pot on ocasion, i would say don't eat them. On the other hand, if your one of those raging coke nose fuckups who has tried everydrug possible and all your stories start or end with, so then i woke up and they said I... I encourage you to go for it.
