if you wanna get rid get a wine bottle and leave about an inch of wine or something sweet in it and leave it on it's side or leave it straight up, the gnats will go inside and drown...they won't really cause to much harm tho what ever they eat will be minimal and won't really affect anything

I hate those damn things, they dont cause much damage but are a pain in the ass. I normally just throw the tub outside. A glass of wine or beer in there will get most of them, also Venus fly traps are pretty cool and work. They lay egg in the sub or came from the sub not being pasturized enough, so they are hard to get rid of. GL, CH

They are prolly fungus gnats and have infested you're sub...try spraying straight Hydrogen Peroxide on you're cakes this will allow you to observe the larvea writhing in distress..but will not cure you're problem..unfortunetly the only way I know how to get rid of fungus Gnats is to not get them in the first place tough one right!!!some people use the sticky fly paper around their grow area to kill them off.. Good luck.............e

yea im thinkin its from too much misting kinda oversoaked a couple cakes cause of overmisting to compensate time being away from the grow because of work some of em are a lil soft and those seem to be the ones that have the flys on just transfer those out for now to let the denser cakes do thier own thing...guessin gona need to dry those ones out a lil but thanks for the info on how to at least try to get rid of them still fruiting prety well but have had too many aborts and such than would rather, but still learning and things are satisfactory at worst

WTF ive noticed a few of these things with 2 of my tubs. Ive never ever seen them before in my flat ever until i made a couple of tubs and 1 appeared in a tub. I removed it then today another 1 appeared.
They dont fly away or anything, i picked 1 up with a knife and it didnt seem to bother much. Killed it.
I cant see any others, no idea where the hell they came from.

They don't eat much and rarely lay eggs in the substrate, and if it's fully colonized, the larvae can't do much anyway and usually die. They're mostly just looking for a meal. Don't spray poison on them. Sticky traps are probably the best control if there's a lot. For only three or four, just ignore them. Some gnats go for wine or beer, but others don't.
Two common places they come from are houseplants that have been outdoors and brought back in, and the bathtub drain. Check both. If they're in the bathtub drain, a bit of drano will nuke them. Pour it in and then put a rag over the drain to hold the fumes and prevent them from escaping. RR

Thats good, i usually find 2-3 each day, not sure if they are the same ones or more. I recently got a chilli pepper plant from my mate and i know he has some problems with spider mites and other beasties though this was in another part of the house.
Whats draino? is that like bleach cause i have a bit of a problem with fruit flys happened last summer, so maybe i should bleach the draines of my sink and batch.
