These mushrooms were found in a forest, near some pine trees in the middle of spring. I don't have any other info. Your feed-back is appreciated.

Wrong forum, this was supposed to be in the hunting forum...

Anyway... looks like the mushrooms you found are Pholiota squarrosoides... Edible, but not active.

Attn PWN hunters: If you should come across a bluing Psilocybe matching P. pellicolusa please smell it.
If you detect a scent reminiscent of Anethole (anise) please preserve a specimen or two for study and please PM me.

Sorry, my bad. I just figured since it was a picture that it went here. No idea as to what it is though?

i'm gonna venture a guess of some Pholiota species. do you know if the stipe was scaly? you probably don't but it's worth a shot.

No I don't have any idea. Pholiota huh? Right on. Are there any little interesting facts or anything about this species? I assume that this kind of mushroom is poisonous. Any other info?

Those look similar to Pholiota squarrosa. Although sometimes eaten they are not recommended. Some people are sensitive and become very sick when they eat them. Dr. Jack States ended up in an emergency room after trying a piece about the size of a fingernail. I have eaten them myself, and they weren't anything to get excited about.

Happy mushrooming!

Thank you for the replies evreyone. I really like the picture itself. The original looks much better, my scanner isn't so good.
