white rice has far less nutrients in it than brown and you will probably end up with crappy flushes.So just use brown.I dont think cereal would work it would get to mushie.

White rice has a very good tendency to stick together when cooked. So it becomes difficult for the mycelium to spread:-( And as MC Face said, it's got low nutrients.

Also tap water has tons of chemicals in it like chlorine and in some places high deposits of iron. You should always used distilled water. For 99 cents a gallon, you can't go wrong
