I have played around with Prasara yoga lately. It is based on Scott Sonnon's interpretations of the yoga sutras.
-------------------- "A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

What are some key focus points when visiting/interviewing yoga studios? Price? Setting? Studio Ammenities? Credibility of the Instructor? Vibes you get from the place?

Can't fail by going off the vibes you get from the place
I've only got one thats close to me thats got classes all day everyday, which i'll need for my twisted schedule, but i may go to a few other classes just to see, the one thats close to me seems to concentrate on 26 fixed positions "Bikram Yoga", although it looks good i wouldn't commit to a years membership, im gonna try out a few classes over time & practice LOTS at home
The general vibe of a yoga studio i can imagine is waaay better than the gym, i can't wait!
how sweet to watch the winds of change blow through the unchanging...

Sweet Chronic, I'm so happy for you. For me, a wide variety of schedules throughout the day is pretty important too! That's what I love about my studio right now; they have classes morning, afternoon, and night.
And in regards to your previous question in the thread, yes, my yoga instructors say they have all stopped lifting weights once they began a regular yoga practice.
Guys with yoga bodies are sooo freaking sexy.

Kundalini yoga, and (though it's not yoga) Xing Yi. Xing Yi's definitely not yoga, but it does have some standing postures so I'm including it.

What about yoga mats? What should I look for in one of those? Any recommendations that come out of big box stores (target, kmart, walmart, etc)?

Hey guys! How is everyone's practice?
I changed my lifestyle to a nomadic one, and I live in the forest now, in the trailer of a friend. (only temporary before I travel to Texas). I'm posting from a library now. I totally stopped going to my yoga studio because I can't afford it, so I've started a rigorous home practice. The only places I have to practice are in the forest, or at my friends house.
Ever since I shifted my yoga practice to a private practice out in Nature, I've felt so amazing. It is a totally different experience to practice outside, on my own. I'm loving it! The other day, I practiced for almost two hours in the mud, rain and bugs. I was barefoot and got deliciously filthy, which made me feel so grounded! I felt like a wild creature; I know who my mother is: EARTH!
Much love.

Damn Moth.... Heh.. Sounds pretty raw...
I'm doing well with my practice. Have a bit of residual soreness from a couple of twists done in class. As far as asana outside, I feel I get a much better sense of grounding with bare feet upon the earth than I do in a studio. It's evident by my balance...
When are you coming to Texas? It's hot as hell down here right now.

Sounds like good times. There's nothing like listening to the rain plink away at the roof of a trailer.
