Thanks guys you always make me laugh my ass off.  I will get more FAE starting now. Also I have even more airy growth on one cake  a few others are knotting.  The mutant  was covered by airy mycelium  should i pick it or leave it?

You need 2 hours of crappy light to initiate a good pin set. My crappy light I mean 1w per square foot. This is not a plant and as long as you have more than 2 to 3 hours of light you are good.

It's not just about initiating a pinset.  There was some very poor information in a popular book from 25 years ago and people keep parroting it as if it was handed down by Moses on Mt Sinai.  The author corrected his bad info in subsequent books, but nobody seems to buy those, or read them if they do.

By providing a 12/12 lighting schedule with bright, high frequency light such as natural daylight fluorescent or LED, you get a BETTER pinset, fatter and meatier caps, with shorter stems and more finished weight, plus healthier, more aggressive mycelium.  Light is NOT about which way is up. That information is provided to the mycelium by gravity.  The mushrooms use the light all the way to harvest, and scientifically, we probably don't know exactly why yet, but the fact remains they do.  Mushrooms are not plants, but they still need light and benefit from a full day of light for best results.

Temps are warm but, cubensis is tropical and has shown to fruit in those temps. They will usually grow much quicker. Id be a bit more worried about colonizing jars in those temps rather than fruiting cakes.

Looks like there is already 1 mushrooms growing but looks mutated. Lots of Ariel mycelium as well weird.

Up the fanning a little bit and mist the same amount of times. Ive seen quite a few really great cake grows that fanned more than misting.

I have a few jars that are around 70-100 percent so I hope I will be fine. To bad though My LC is just now finished have to put it in the firdge I guess.

I do think of that book as the Old Testament, it's true.
But my copy specifies 12/12 and 6500K, and that's the first edition. So it's not that he was wrong so much as that he was misinterpreted.
Just like the "86 degrees" thing. And like the Old Testament, too, I guess.

OK RR, name the book! You state that it was corrected but I have never read anywhere that the data has changed. So, Tell us the name of the book so we can expand our knowledge and learn something new. I am willing to review and change my opinion if the facts contradict what I am saying.

I have never seen light make that big of a difference, and I have put the light on the sides of the grow and watched the mushrooms fruit out the side as if that was the top of the cake. So I have seen that they grow the direction of the light.

Sure. They'll grow on a slant if the light is that way- I've got a tub doing it right now.
I turn it every morning to even them out.

I've noticed this as well. Especially in low light conditions.
