Which is exactly what it's supposed to do. That's when you mist again. Evaporation of moisture from your substrate is the number ONE pinning trigger. Mist three to four times a day at least and you'll be golden. RR

Thanks RR, Sometimes even after misting it wouldn't rise! But it must be the racking... I was packing it down so maybe that'll fix it... I'm following the rules by the letter though! 3-4 misting & fanning sessions per day! Still no pins though (after dunking for 24 and 5 days in the FC)

It takes an hour or so for a hygrometer to register small changes. Make sure you're giving plenty of bright light. RR

I'm using a 6500K 15watt (60 watt equivalent) fluorescent light. About 5 feet from the FC for 12 hours.. I also have indirect sun light coming in during the day from a near by window (it doesn't reach the FC directly but it illuminates the room pretty much). I hope that's enough!

For me misting the perlite did the trick. If you do tray cultures it is easier to remove and put them back into the FC after misting the perlite. With cakes that might be a bit troublesome. Of course RR is right, but sometimes your substrate will get waterlogged if you over mist. The stem looks like a swollen finger and has brown streaks. Then just misting the perlite is for me the way to maintain high RH without water logging your substrate.

80F-88F is quite warm but cubes will still fruit fine in those conditions they are a tropical species.
Im sure your cakes will fruit great. Give it more time.
Make sure to consolidate for a full week and exposing to light during that week can really help pinning.

Congrats
RR was saying not to point a fan directly at the chamber, it should be cool to have it running on low on the other side of the room. This is good if you have lack of circulation in that room.
