that seems like a reasonable solution.
but isnt it the heat that you want to dry them? in a humid environment you need the extra heat. if its arid enough then a simple fan and basket setup should be more than enough. i cant imagine even BAKING some cubes in the oven and then just feeding them to someone. there is no way it could be totally inert.
*some baked cube stew anyone? its really yummy! dont worry unless you have something to do in a few hours! ...........
a few 1/8ths of shrooms dried with a HOT dehydrator, rehydrated into miso soup or something...
eat it all. see what happens.

That works great if they're not in series... otherwise you just stopped the whole thing from working.
If it turns out to be wired in series, just clip out the heating element and replace it with resistors so you don't burn up the fan motor.

So unnecessary. Just use the thing as-is. Try it, you'll see.

+1
Also, most people don't just have resistors lying around. I do, but most don't.

I've got a nice assortment of resistors, but all low-power stuff. 1/4 watt and smaller.
I bet most of the successful cultivators here have a good bit of electrical and electronic gear just sort of laying around in case it's needed. We seem like that kind of people, mostly.

I did electronics for years and $100's before mycology, so I have my fair share of everything from 1/w to 12w resistors.. and everything else electronics that I've gathered over the years.
I was pretty depressed when I learned the real demographics of the shroomery. The MC section seems so normal, but now I think it's all a charade.

Yeah, I was just talking about Mush Cult, not the whole site's members. All my work was digital electronics, 5V mostly. But I've got all kinds of goodies. Some day I'm going to whip up a four-station repeat cycle timer. I'll post pics when the magic day comes.
But back on topic- there's really no need to modify a dehydrator.

ok well i guess thats the end of that. thanks for all the contributions and opinions. i feel more confident about dehydrators now. it would be such a shame to let months of work get destroyed by a marginal temperature. that was my concern, thanks for setting me straight. its been educational.
