alright so finally after 2 weeks my cake has 5 healthy looking pins on it, I'm keeping up with 6 fannings a day and 2 mist a day. is there any other techniques you guys use to ensure good and healthy growth that i should know about?

2 weeks after birthing?? That's a bit too much.. Did you let the cakes consolidate for a week after they colonized?? Are you maintaining optimal or near optimal conditions(temp, light, fae, humidity)? That's the only way I can think of for speeding up the process... Keep fanning and misting... btw what FC are u using?

You should be lightly misting every time you fan how much you mist is determined by how things look. You most likely would of had a better pinset with more moisture. Read my pinning strategy it works for cakes as well. GL

This means your misting too much at one time. Several light misting over a period of time is much better than one or two heavier misting. You should still mist every time you fan even if it just a couple of squirts. It's easy to get yourself dialed in once you understand what the shrooms like. GL

This may just be a coincidence too it may have been time for generative growth to begin you just never know for sure unless you had water runoff or pooling.

Misting too much is defintaly not a great thng. If your cakes are constantly soaked, they wont evaporate moisture. Evaporation of moisture is important. Evaporation of moisture and rehydration.
Ive seen quite a few great results from misting 3-4 times a day and fanning 7-8 times a day with a shotgun terrarium.
Search pins pins pins pesh cakes.
Those cakes pinned so much you couldnt see the cake, someone else also replicated that grow with very similar results.

There's a lot more to this than what we see (obvious). There is a correlation between moisture, evaporation and pin formation when optimal you get your best results. Water logged cakes rot from the inside out this will inhibit generative growth because the mycelial network works as one entity if it's anaerobic at it's core it will effect the whole cake. I'm trying to rule out and enlighten you to the possibilities I'm not saying anything for sure. You may have been over saturating your cakes I don't know I'm not there personally. I hope all works out for you in the end the most important thing is keep an open mind my friend. GL
