I have looked over some of the past posts and I hope I have not overlooked the answer. If I have I do apoligize.I have heard that different colored lights may or may not have effects on harvest weight or grow times.Any information would be of great help.

Experiments have shown that blue light causes mycelium to pin. The wavelength used was 460 nm I believe. Though any source of light that puts out in the blue wave length (LEDs, cool white fluorescents) works.

Dude, my terrarium is about 4 feet below the ceiling where there's a fluorescent....is that close enough? I've read that just indirect light is fine, but wanted to do what's best for the little shroomies.

A recent thread does raise some interesting points on the effect of light, and dark, on mushies.

The closest you can get to imitating nature or sunlight is the best.
I beleive flouroscent daylights are really good.

I was using a black light, but I think it looked too pruple which means it is toward the red side. I think this was hurting my fruiting.
