I usually grow Ecuador every year, just because it has been consistently reliable for me. I always am up for trying new strains. I am going to attempt PE this time around. I will use PE mostly indoors and Ecuador outdoors. I may try a few patches of PE outside, but I have heard they are a little more finicky than most strains, so I would figure an outdoor setting wouldn't yield the best.
Brazilian you say? I have been eying that strain for some time now. Did you get those spores from Ralphsters or Hawkseye? I am looking into some Cambos to try too. I am just so comfortable with Sporeworks that I feel going with another vendor (although they may have some different strains) wouldn't be worth it.
I am going to go with cubes again for outdoors opposed to azurs. I like the idea of multiple flushes throughout the summer. I can't even imagine having to wait till fall for some azur fruits. I don't have the patience for that.

PE is just really domesticated. I have never tried it outdoors, I would stick with a more traditional strain like eq outside too......

Hm I have really wanted to try the Brazilians for some time now so I think I'll get that one for sure. And I have heard nothing but good things about equator strain, so I think I'll go with those 2 for now Also has anyone ordered from spores 101? I have not heard much about them and they are not on the sponsors list here on shroomery. I may order from them because they are so close, and accept a CC

I would personally stick with sponsors. The Sporeworks have been great to me, plus they give you a free spore syringe if you just type in "Shroomery" under the comments section of your order.

i'd stay away from spores101,
ralphstersspores is my personal favorite, but sporeworks has nothing but good reviews as well, and accepts CC's if you want to use one..

So Ive grew out a few different varieties of cubes but every time I grow Koh Samui Super Strain I get tons of tiny tiny little lame ass fruits while other varieties flourish.
It this common with this strain?
I heard they have short fat fruits but mine have been downright small. I had a mono that had a full canopy if fingernail-sized mushrooms or smaller. Took a bud and i like 2 hours to pick the majority of the tub. Im not even going to try for a second flush.

alot of the times i've found real small first flushes, tend to produce much larger fruits on 2nd and 3rd flush...i wouldn't toss it, let it do its thing and see if it changes your opinion on them..

My PF Redspore has given me LOTS and LOTS of tiny ass fruits- and the strain is known for "Fat-Ass Fruits".

This cake looks awesome, but I only got 4-5 dry grams from this flush(first flush). The last strain I grew was Orissa, and I got that from a single shroom!

I guess thats part of the magical mystery that is multispore! Kinda like a box 0 chocolates...

'GOLDEN MAMMOTH' (psilocybe aureus tantus) strain???
What is the deal with this strain? I have heard that it is just a name the vendor made up, I also heard it was B+ or Golden teachers? BUT on the free spore ring earth site it says that this strain shows his own unique characteristics?? As shown in the fsre website >> http://fsre.nl/?p=716
And this is the site that this strain is sold "exclusively" to Canadians only >>> http://www.sporepod.com/Products.html
Now whats the dealio? this is my friends very first strain he has ever grown, and he does not know what to call them or even know what he is growing anymore.. But he thinks that the mushrooms he produces are uber beautiful

always call it by how its labeled when you received it.
and if you ever dont know what it is at all then dont trade prints of it just keep it for yourself

I just got a cubensis called "Golden Mammoth" from the free print thread. Haven't seen the fruits yet, though. Seems to colonize pretty fast, but thats the only characteristic I can personally report on- for now anyway.

This was the key... Some people just try the wrong keys before opening the lock... Eventually ruining the lock...

This has nothing to do with the variety of cubensis, and more to do with your friends methods, practices and procedures I am sure.

Probably not getting enough oxygen. I've seen mycelium stunted due to co2 buildup.
I was wondering if anybody here has some experience growing cambos? I was wondering about their fruiting times. I know their pretty aggressive colonizers.

My very first grow was CAMs. I loved em. As for as fruiting times- it depends on when you birth em. If you take em out the day they hit 100%- your gonna be waiting a week-10 days. Wait til you see good knots n pins before birthing and its only a few days. I got MANY flushes out of my CAMs. I had 3 double stacked cakes that flushed 8-10 times. Granted only the first 3-4 produced any good amount of fruits. But they produced more overall than any Ive grown since. And a nice, mellow body buzz. Not "heady" at all. Good "weekday" trip.

Thanks Bate. This is SWIM's 2nd grow. The first was alacabenzi cased with rye, verm, and coco coir, inexperience caused cobweb contamination and almost everything was lost. But successfully swim has gotten some cambo's going. I plan to case again but cakes seem to be easier to handle when it comes to contamination.
I usually wait 3 or so days after 100% colonization before dunking. SWIM currently has 5 unpinned cakes in the FC. SWIM also has 1 cake that has been fruiting also for about 4 days. I'm hoping when I get home there will be enough matures that SWIM can take a trip.
