They are all the same species of the same genus and require the same environmental parameters to grow and fruit. "Strain" is a pseudo-classification of no relevance.

Great choice. Ecuador was my first. And still my favorite. Such a pretty looking fruit. Great trippy effects. Always got great spore loads for making prints... I love Ecuador!. Burma is nice to. To tell you the truth. There is no difference. If it is a Cubensis you will find no real difference besides looks. And MOST you can't even tell my looks. There is no "Strain" (if you can really call them strains...) better than the next...
You will like both the GT's and EQ's good choice... and really when dealing with Cubensis no matter what you choose would have been a good one choice.
A cube is a cube is a cube.

How do the Koh Samui spores do when introduced into PF jars? A friend inoculated 4 jars with KS and didn't get very good results What happened was 3 jars didn't even come close to colonizing the whole jar and the 4th came very close (after months) but didn't have it in 'em to finish the job. However, optimum conditions were not persistent. Room temps ranged from 50's to 80's and the jars were too tightly sealed with no FAE. Could the incomplete inoculation simply be the result of poor environmental factors? He has more jars primed and ready for inoculation already and I wanna tell him if he should bother or not. Thanks Shroomunity!

if there was no holes for gas exchange in the jars could be a good reason as to why they stalled out...also 50 is sa bit cold and will hault mycelium growth..

Interested in hearing more about the Brazil and Puerto Rico strains...Anyone have experience with these? How, um, interesting are these to study? Also, I've recently been hearing something about a White Lighting and Oracle strain....Wasn't able to loc any info about them on quite a few forums, including this one...Anyone care to put their input in on this?

I inocd some wbs jars on the 11th with texan multispore 1cc each, and I realized I forgot to shake them to distribute the spores so I did that on the 13th. I followed hunters wbs tek: soak 25hrs, rinse, dry, and pc@15psi for 90min and good sterile technique for incoc. Their quart jars with 5 holes punched in the lid and tyvek mail envelopes inbetween the lid and ring. I didnt have multipore tape so I used scotch but Ive read that any tape is fine really, because the fae is coming through the tyvek and not the needle hole..?
But when I put my lips on the tyvek envelopes and try to blow through it it seems solid, is this right? Im wondering cause this is my first time trying to grow and im getting nervous cause still no signs of any growth 9 days later. I inoced some brf 1/2 pints with eq the next day and they are all showing growth.

its not FAE you want, its GE, and the tyvek works fine for that...

If you scotch taped over the only 5 holes those lids can breathe through, you're not getting any gas exchange at all. However, unless you filled the jars 100% full of grain, there should be enough oxygen in the jar to get some growth going.
Also about your lid tek. If you put the tyvek directly over the mouth of the jar then put the lid on top of that (then your ring), that's a bad way to do it as I've found out. Water can get trapped between the lid and the tyvek, soaking the tyvek and creating a breach where molds and other bad stuff can enter the spawn when you shake. You want to have lid first, then tyvek, then ring.

The jars are around 80% full, leaving a couple inches to the lid. And yes my tyvek is between the lid and ring, not directly over the mouth of the jar. I made sure to use just a strip over the hole and you can even see the pressure imprint made on the tyvek by the other 4 lid holes. Perhaps somewhere deep in all that grain some spores have started to germ.. btw just experimenting w pics how do you guys make the pictures pop out when you click them and I dont know why it rotated when I uploaded.

edit: ohhh i see. In the preview post page it would just take me to a separate tab for the image

"I realized I forgot to shake them to distribute the spores so I did that on the 13th."
Check that.
We do not shake MS inoculated spawn grains right after inoculation.
We shake LC or agar inoculated spawn grains right after inoculation.
The reason for this is the need for spores to find each other.
Otherwise, the shaking protocol is the same (i.e. at 20-30% then not again if possible)
Take care,
JD

Sooo by shaking the jars with MS have I separated the spores too much leaving them all useless? Though now I see this is in contradiction with Docs wbs tek, even though it was written 7 years ago..
