The whole setup was pretty automated with an air stone. I know its buried in the first couple pages somewhere but does anyone know off hand which strains are notorious for more hollow stems?

There is no way to tell. Your friend got cube spores from a head shop. That is all we have to go on.
Hollow stems mean little if anything.
Sorry I can't be of more help... but if you are unwilling to read the first post of the thread, why should anybody else do the leg work for you?

I've read the first pages before thats why I know its in there, I didn't ask anyone to go sift through it for me, I asked if anyone knew off hand cause I forget. Thats the kind of trivia lots of guys on these forums seem to know

Hollow stems are mostly from lack of FAE and some genetics.
And on the genetics side of it, its probably more of a variable from the strain, not the race.

I would think it might but I have gotten Hollow and Solid in the same flush... can we see picks?

In order to narrow down the strain you would need multiple pics showing the fruitbodies at diff stages. Even then it'd only be narrowing down and guessing.
I think the biggest clue is the fact you got it from a head shop. For some reason the Pacific Exotica Spore co. was real popular with head shops. They tend to carry PESH PESA and B+.

Bassballs said: Question on mystery strain: My friend grew up some cubes from a syringe he bought at a bong shop with no indication of strain. First flush showed very tall fellows largest being about 13inches tall and 23g wet, fairly hollow stems and the veil stayed on the stem when it tore. I know hollow stems are a strong indicator of strain, any thoughts?
That's a great question, i would be interested in the answer to that as well.

Hey shroomery Ive got some wbs in the process of drying in a strainer right now and this will be my first time using a pressure cooker. I noticed mine does not have a rack/trivet so is it necessary to put a wash cloth/aluminum foil at the bottom like when boiling jars?

Watch RR's videos (mushroomvideos.com) and see how he uses jar rings to raise jars off the bottom, as well as for spacing between spawn bags, etc.

I knew about the ring method before, unfortunately I dont have any spare rings. The only time I did this before was just like in his video with a pot with a lid, and using rags and lids to elevate the jars. I ended up putting a wash cloth and alum foil on the bottom, which made the jars just that much taller that I could barley get the lid on, there was just enough room to close it.
Oh damn i guess i didnt put enough water in for a 90 minute 15psi cuz the aluminum looks a little burnt and edgy. I hope that didnt screw the jars

Cubes need some light to fruit.
Mexicanae, like Mex A, Atlantis 7 and Jalisco need no light to make trippy truffles.
