I'm looking for something super fast and from what i've seen the Psilocybe Cubensis Z- strain is the one i want. Now i'm curious as to what the potency is and any special characteristics? Or helpful tips or techniques cultivating like what they grow best in? Just looking for some advice from a cultivator that has experience with the strain.
Z strain are my 2nd fav cube.
they like coir/verm or manure/verm or both mixed. they wont dissapoint you.
look up Damion5050s elementary coir tek.
Cool. Thanks. SO you have grown them before? Are they a strong strain? I suppose what i'm trying to ask is do they have a good success rate?

Im getting my flow hood built here in a week or so, so I will be able to start using isolations and give true answers. ms is good but not definitive.
Interesting. I looked at your pics - they don't seem to produce very well. I suppose if you're after potency, though...
Were all those pics in Agar's gallery of DT?
that was my 2nd and 3rd grow ever (MS of course) and my subs were over saturated and I didnt have proper fae. or a good camera so my pics were limited at the time. but I have some spores left and a flowhood on the way so a new DT grow is in the works for me.

The PE6 that I grew were so much stronger than anything else that I had ever eaten that I have a heard time estimating just how much stronger they are.
I have eaten as many as 5 grams of cubes before, but a bit less than 3 grams of PE6 left me unhinged for hours. Wow!
These estimates are so subjective. I am not sure what to make of them.
...but that is my $0.02,
JD
P.S. And yes, it colonizes slower than most other strains. It tends to produce either Texan or PE looking fruits. I took print of the one and clones on agar of the other. I did not see the blob-mutant issue.
This is the only photo of them that I have:

(this was my second strain...you can see that I am still using a terrarium)

thanks. Would it lose potency over time if the main means of propagation was through harvesting and growing out spores?

Therein lies the rub: if you take the spores route, then you will leave the PE characteristics behind.
In my photo you can see the well-opened cap on the right?
I had serious hopes foe this one. Zero spores dropped.
I am just doing the Workman method, less centrifuge, as I am saving some dried caps as prints too.
Good luck,
JD

Everybody finds a favorite. Problem is, many disagree with others about what the favorites actually are.
PE is the only strain I know (and the PE hybrids... OK and the mutant AND albino strains) that is known among most who try it, to be stronger than average.

yup, and my DT grow was from MS, so luck or good genetics
but Im currently putting together my flow hood build so I can test my soon to come iso's with accuracy/consistency.

Wow, seriously? I mean, this is something I never would have guessed from just reading the site...
When I say - in the Strain Thread mind you - that I'm interested in a strain because 13shrooms rates it highly that's exactly what I mean to say. Cut through the fog. I dunno, maybe 13's an idiot with no judgment in these matters but if so, a member of a large club. Opinions are easy, those merely happen to be mine.

the only cubes that stick out are the PE variety or the non purple spore droppers or albinos. all the rest look like they look because of their environment/conditions they grew in. there are very few exceptions when it comes to cubes.
with select isolation you can make your own custom cubes after many generations of selecting characteristics whether it be for potency or looks, in mycology your god if you want to be, otherwise its up to the genetics and the roll of the dice of what your chosen cube looks like.
These dancing tigers must be an exception?
Or wait... Z strain too and PE

random what?
what are you nitpicking now?
Im just using the names that were/are on the labels man, if the 3 best grows I had from ms were GTs, Burmas and SyZyGy then those would have been the strain/variety I wrote.
I dont know what your getting at? maybe this will help me get to your level
and if you conveniently didnt notice this post..

Well, that's a given. Don't get me wrong, I love talking about strains. Almost as much as I like to nitpick minor incongruencies.
Since I've got you in strain discussion mode and not 'a cube is a cube' mode. What do you think about the white flecks on the Dancing tigers? In Cervantes strain journal it's listed as a trait of the strain. I'm on the fence tho. I've seen flecking on just about every strain at some point or another.

agreed, I think its a product of environmental conditions, but thats just my theory till I can run consecutive runs with "flaked capped" cubes and getting isolations grown out in different environmental conditions
Ive noticed most "red capped cubes" tend to have flakes then loose them when matured.
