Greenish mold on the monotub
    #10558838 - 06/23/09 11:14 AM (14 years, 7 months ago)

Well, I finally got my first contamination.......WBS>horsepoo/straw/coco/ mixture was fruited about 7 days ago and everything was going legit, until about 4 days ago when I noticed two small green patches on the substrate.  I got pretty upset and thought the whole thing was toast, but today I looked at the tub and lone behold the mycelium actually looks like its fending off the infection.  It built up almost an overlay looking bulk around the green mold, and thankfully the mold has gone down in size, and lost its bright green color.  Now it looks like a darker "dead" green, but my question is are the mushrooms still ok to consume??  Here's a pic....but its pretty shitty.  The dark spots are to the right and left of the stringy mushroom in the bottom left. They actual green spots are about the size of a dime, with an area slightly larger than a 50 cent coin being the battle field around it.

The mushrooms are alright to consume, but you'll almost never have a tub recover from trich. The "overlay" look is likely trich mycelium that hasn't sporulated yet.

I'll wager that it'll start puking spores in a few days, unless you've mistakenly ID'd the trich.
