casing won't pin

It's been about a month since I started my casings. The mycelium keeps growing over the top layer. I patch it when I notice it but it still keeps creeping up.
I have two casings in a clear sterilite container. I've been keeping em at about 78 degrees, 90% humidity, the only light they recieve is about an hour a day from my ceiling light. Is this enough?
One casing has no bottom layer, the other has vermiculite on bottom. They both are cased with 50/50. Both are EQ.
Any advice?

You need far more light than that to initiate pinning. I say (and i think some may agree :smile:

) you need 18 hours of light to start the pinning. After pinning, give it about 3 hours of intense light a day for a few days. Then give it about 1-2 hours of indirect light a day until you have large beautiful shrooms.

I also grow EQ's.

Drop temps to around 69-72 *F for at least 24 hours , give lots of fresh air , and give them at least 6-8 hours a day of light . Stop patching if growth is even over the surface . Get a light bulb that produces light in the blue wave lengths of the spectrum . Wal mart has one that costs about 3 - 4 dollars , is used for reptiles , has a photo of a chameleon on the box .

Right on! I have one of those lights for my python. I was gonna ask if those would work but I forgot to mention it in the first post. So I can just leave that light on for 6 hours a day?
