krispies for substrate

just look at a fuckin rice krispie they look perfect for mycelium.
I'm just wondering if there is any reason why this should not work I don't have a box so I can't list all the nutriant info but i'm sure it's just fine.
If nobody can think of why this shouldn't work I think I'll try it for my next experiment I was just wondering how wet it should be? since theres no tek for this I need to make up my own water:substrate ratio.

Bad idea. Ever let them sit in milk for more than 5 minutes? Soggy mush. Imagine that after an hour in the PC. That's not even mentioning that after processing, there is so much garbage added, I doubt your spores would germinate and gain any purchase. Try it if you like, but it's going to be a disapointing waste of time, IMO.

How will this work? I'm assuming you've had success using this method. How would this be more beneficial than brf? Processed cereal grains haven't much nutrient value left in them, that's why they're fortified. Also all sorts of preservatives and other nasties are added. I think the original post was assuming you could use whole rice krispies because of their puffy form. Just curious.

If you have spores to spare, Id say try it. It probably wont work, but then again, nobody's tried it before that I know of. Do it and provide a grow log.

OK, maybe I'm nitpicking here, but when you say> "it'll work, you need to grind them up, and you dont need to pc them, just microwave or cook"< it sounds like you've used this method before. That is why I asked you if you've done this before. When you responded you said it would be a good method to test out. Which is it? If you've used this method with success, you should say so. If your just postulating a theory, you should say so as well, so somebody doesn't take your theory for proven fact. Personally I don't think it'll work, but if he wants to try it, more power to him. No bigdeal anyhow, just bored and punchy. Peace

I recently substituted Grape Nuts for BRF for PF1/2pint jars. About 15% colonized so far. I've heard cereals have lots of preservatives that can hinder mycel growth. That being said, I've still got faith in my G-Nuts.

I thought about Grape Nuts for an experiment just for fun. Did you grind them up or leave them whole?
