What the fuck!
My friend is on probation.
Two months ago I moved into a new place with him in a new county. He just got back from meeting with his parole officer who informed him that he may be subject to a random visit at our house. All we know is that a probation officer and a police officer will come to the house to check on him. My roommate did not probe the probation officer for more information because he didn't want to seem shady or worried about a visit, thus prompting a definite one.
I am worried about what this visit will consist of. Will the cop and parole officer ask to come inside? Must they be let inside? Will they want to poke around? What if my friend isn't home, will they come inside to look for him?
I am really worried about this. Now no one is allowed to smoke a joint at the house or trip, or have anything illegal at the house, because at any moment a cop can bust down our door?
Anyone have any information about how the law might work in this case?

No, cuz we have no idea what law your referring to.
If you rin the US read my answers to other people's questions.
Get a lock on your door and personal items that is not accesable to the person on probation, refuse all searches (for your protection), and tell your roomate you'll kill him if he consents to searches of your shit.

No offence, but your shit is likely in jeopardy UNLESS you either move your buddy or your shit ... know what I mean.

If you keep a lock on your door and keep it locked when you're not home, you should be fine as long as you only have misdemeanors to worry about. If you have any major felonies growing in your closet, I would ditch them or move somewhere else. Keep anything illegal out of plain site.

Always keep the door to your room locked, consider installing a deadbolt.
Make sure there are no smells in the public areas of the house, smoke outside.
