Wow. I have a good idea on who I like and dislike on this forum thanks to this thread.
I like Joe Rogan. Hell I didn't even know that he is into psychedelics until this thread, now he is even more awesome IMO.

WTF. Terrence Mckenna is a weird mofo. He talks about the brain as if it were a computer LOL. He talks about basically using psychedelics to "reformat" your "disk" and "download" a new "OS" LOL.
I guess meth overclocks your brain?
I can agree with him on some points, but the whole human brain/computer analogy thing he uses to get his points across is a bit annoying.

He is not the only acedmic to do such thing. Read "Programing and metaprograming the human biocomputer" By John Lilly M.D.
Instead of dismissing claims because they don't fit into your cultural understanding of the way the universe/life is put together. Try learning about computer, human behavior/modeling so forth and so on. The human brain and nervous system is almost identical to a computer.
Here is the authors bio
He wasn't just weird. He was a smart mother fucker!

Anything that is constantly processing information, that we are looking to understand, should have an operating system, a well documented operating system. Although I love computers and his analogy's I did feel like it got way too dry for my taste.

I'm actually quite well versed in some subjects. I'm a certified computer tech, I guess that's why I found it kind of corny.
I have been studying Terence McKenna a bit(since my last post), this is probably the most accurate description of psilocybin I've ever heard.
I know that he's an intelligent person, I just thought the first video was kind of goofy, I was making a joke! :P
Pretty interesting stuff I have to say.

Your a computer tech? And you don't see similarities between information processing of the brain and a computer?

I'll post up the torrent of the show if someone ever ups it.
Joe Rogan Live:
I would love it if I could download a torrent of this show.

If you don't recognize the parallels between the human mind and the machines we're now building, I don't know what to tell you. Patterns are everywhere obviously, but this similarity seems like a particularly important one to me.

Of course there are similarities.. but a human brain is far more complex than the components of a computer.
A human brain does not work like a computer does. We don't even know everything about the human brain.
The analogy is kind of goofy IMO, especially when you break it down into such great detail. It's like comparing apples and oranges, sure they're both round, and they're both fruit, but it's silly.

Big two thumbs up to Joe Rogan. I only got to see a little of the show, but what I've seen was great. He represented marijuana very well.

Yeah right now.... wait till we learn more about the structure of reality, our brain and the landscape technology has to offer us.

Wow, you claim that the brain does not work like a computer, and not only did you back it up with ZERO evidense, you admit you have no fucking clue what your talking about. Read it back out loud dude, you make no sense!
