One cake not pinning...... others all fine!?!

Hi Guys,

Ok I have a cake which i birthed before it started pinning - got a little eager i guess... but my other jars where ready to go so I just did them all..... they have been in the terrarium for over a week now and my other cakes are mushrooming fine... but the b+ strain is just not pinning or doing anything... it is starting to look a little dry i think... but the mycelium is really strong and thick all over (infact it grew outside of the jar through the holes in the lid at one stage!)

Any hints or ideas to initiate fruiting? Or is it a lost cause? The other cakes are Tasmanian Gold Tops... can you put different types in the same terrarium?

Sounds like you've got stroma, which won't fruit. However, there's a possibility you just don't have enough air exchange. Casing is generally the best way to go if you have problems getting a cake (or cakes) to fruit.

what is stroma???

Would dipping or cooling the cake down then putting it in the terranium help at all or is it a lost cause??

I'm having the same problem with two of my cakes. I stuck one in the fridge all day yesterday for a cold shock, and have dunked the other one and left it in the fridge overnight, and if that doesn't kickstart growth then I'm just going to case the bitches!

i eventually gave up on one cake, cut it up and and cased it in 50/50+. it fruited like crazy then.
