Some Outdoor Questions

I live in NY state. Today, I was at a friends house who lives outside of town. We got on the subject of outdoor cultivation, and he's really interested, almost as much as me. Well, anyways, we walked around the woods near his house, and scoped out a few possible areas for a patch. So here are my questions. What months will they grow out here? What strain is native and will grow good out here? What about when winter comes back next year? Does that kill the patch or will they be back in spring? And uhmmm... what else... Oh yeah, are old cakes just as good or will we need freshly birthed cakes? Any help would be appreciated, especially from northern outdoorsy people

They will grow up there from spring until fall. I live in indiana, so we are not 2 different. I'd say late spring to early fall. And when the summer is in full effect, they are everywhere, in my experience. I dont think there is a native strain to that area, but any cube, and many others will work. I dont think that winter will kill your patch. Fresh or used cakes really dont matter. I reccomend getting ahold of a lot of poo for an outdoor bed. (if you decide to go with cubes.)

Yeah like Floyd said, winter won't kill them, just kinda make them take a nap. One thing you can do to prepare your bed for winter is spread a layer of straw or mulch to act as a barrier for your bed. And like floyd said, get some poo if you want to grow outside, the more poo the better.

About the same chance as you winning the lotto without buying a ticket, ok that's a stretch, but you will have much, much, much better chances if you spawn the poo with mycelium rather than inoculate the poo with spores.

I thought in nature that spores germinated through the cow ingesting plants that have spores on them, not by spores landing on poo, but I guess I'm wrong.
