In general, yellow is not a contam. It is almost always metabolites.

This thread was moved from Mushroom Cultivation.

Reason:
Moved to the appropriate forum.  It looks to be contaminated with bacteria, and I'm not looking at the yellow metabolites.  Try taking a closer, non-overexposed picture.

Yeah, that could be bacteria... the tell tale sign IME is seeing uncolonized grain when it touches the glass.

Sorry disk... RR is probably right.

Trial and error. Most people struggle a bit before their first success.

rouglhy 28C. and it looked like wbs not colonized.  however, this is a jar with a silicone hole on top for inoculating and i loosend the cap for air exchange..maybe a bad idea.. to bad. another one down :frown:

if you have a silicon port, then you need another hole for ge, covered with micropore tape, poly, band-aid. if you think its uncolonized wbs then it might be bacteria, thats why you get section that mycelium doesnt grow.

also 82 or 83 is too warm lower to between 72-76. warmer temps are favorable to bacteria, i'd say thats what you got. doesnt look like metabolite since it isnt liquid, which metabolites almost always are.
