San Diego is famous for being "laid back"
although he's right jobs are kinda scarce down here, but at least there are crazy deals on
rent
seriously though, if your thinkin San Diego, definitely head to O.B.
its a very chill community, a place where a blunt is being lit in every other house
and no one is really shy about selling you weed... unless you look sketchy

I have to agree with the guy who is raining on your parade. You may hate him now but you may look back on this months from now and realize you should have listened to him. But that is OK: being young is often all about making mistakes and learning from them.
I lived in Southern California for a significant period of time (about 2 years), split between San Diego and Orange County. I wish I could have those years back, but then, they were necessary to disabuse me of the notion that it was a nice place to live. I also learned what I DON'T like, which can be a valuable lesson.
For one thing, it is really sunny down there all the time. If you have sensitive skin it gets irritating. It's funny how nobody ever mentions that but it is a big issue if you are pale white like me.
If I was forced to go back there, I would pick L.A. over the other parts, only because it has an urban vibe. The guy who mentioned Santa Monica and Venice gave you really good advice. Second on the list would be Orange County. Newport Beach is great if you can afford to live there, with lots of rich kids and surfers. The rest of OC is a wasteland.
I would not recommend San Diego AT ALL. There is something really weird about that town and I can't put my finger on it. It has a vibe I don't like. Spend a month there and you will know what I mean. In L.A. people are rude and in a rush. OC people are friendly in a fake way. San Diego people have this really weird, aggressive and unfriendly vibe to them, and I found it everywhere I went. There is something very bad that just hangs in the air there, and it affects everyone. Beyond that I can't explain it.
The problem is that with your living situation you won't be able to live in the good parts. You will need a car to get everywhere. If you don't live in Newport Beach or Santa Monica it's a bitch to park there. The whole thing is more hassle than its worth. If you go you will learn and eventually leave, just like everyone else. But it's not a bad place to spend some of your youth if you want to have fun. Just don't let it take more than a year of your life.

Like I said man I live in detroit. Detroit will always be my home and Im sure there are probably better places to live than so cal. But I just have a feeling that I would like it. I used to work with a few people that lived there and said it was absolutely awsome. I know that everyone has a differnt opinion and outlook but I mean. I just need a change And with the weather and the ocean there sounds pretty nice to me

If you want to move to California and you like the beach lifestyle, NorCal is MUCH better. Again, the guy who you didn't like is giving you really good advice, you should listen to him. NorCal has a much more progressive vibe, it is more herb-friendly, and there is a higher level of consciousness than the trashy beach vibe you find down south.
Try Santa Cruz - it is small but the kids at UCSC are really cool and alternative types. It also has a nice, small downtown. Perhaps the Monterey Bay area? Another possibility is Berkeley - relatively cheap for the Bay Area, and really progressive. It is a more urban experience, so not the beach thing you are picturing. But I think if you try it you will realize the whole beach scene is pretty empty.

Well I lived on the east coast right of the beach in florida. I have never been out west. This is kind of why Im hung on california. And its not like I dont like that guy. But it was almost like he was yelling at me lol and then causing me out because he didnt want to hear what I had to say about moving out there. I mean ill be moving out there one way or another. If I dont like it then I guess I will check out another place. Not really a big deal to me ya know.

San Ramon isn't bad at all, it's a pretty nice area and not t0o far from San Francisco. I would assume cost of living is fairly expensive but probably not overwhelming.
