Vermiculite with miracle grow ?

Okay, so after two attempts at growing cubensis mushrooms using the pf tek, and failing miserably both times, I have a question. Exactly how detrimental would vermiculite with added miracle grow be to the growth of mycellium? I ask because this is what I used both times, and it just occured to me that this might have been the problem. I've still got quite a bit of the spore syringe left, and if this was in fact the problem, then perhaps I'll get some different vermiculite and give it another go...
any replies are appreciated

it almost certainly doesn't help and may very well be the reason you are failing. i've never seen verm with miracle grow in it. very odd...

You should wash the vermiculite out before use to wash the miracle grow out.

You need to learn about fungi, it's life cycle, and it's metabolism. We're not dealing with plants.

Where in the PF Tek does it say to use miracle grow?  :ooo:

it doesn't say in the PF tek to use miracle grow vermiculite, but that's all I could find in this shitty small town. next time I will simply mail order it. thanks for the advice

Ok MiracleGrow contains lots of nitrogen. I used a soil once that had some fertilizer in it (nitrogen). With in about a week all the mycelium were dead, so yes MiracleGrow is probably the problem.

after searching around what I can tell, any use of miraclegro, in any form, in any application, has not yielded anything special. When you look at the mushroom, do you see something green, do you see something that converts carbon dioxide into oxygen, do you see something that needs light, do you see something that goes through photosynthesis? I don't, so maybe you shouldn't use something that satisfies completely different requirements.

A small amount of miracle grow left in the verm probably wouldnt hurt anything. Just wash as much out as you can. I fertilized a section of my yard with miracle grow and just a week after it was completely covered with paenolinas
