coco coir blackening at the edges
    #1048018 - 11/12/02 10:00 PM (21 years, 4 months ago)

Have a nice casing with coco coir on top. Noticed a few dark or blackened looking fibers near the edges on the first flush, which was gorgeous BTW.

Now on second flush, larger areas of the edge seem black, but the casing seems healthy and it's pinning beautifully. It's not like there's something protruding or fuzzing, just a color change in the coco fibers.

Does the coco kinda oxidize sometimes and turn from dark brown to black, or am I just heinously cluster-fucked here?

Thanks, dudes!

When I case with coco coir it always changes colors on me... seems to get a darker reddish-brown color.

Thanks for your input.

Most of the black is near the edges, especially where I patched after the first flush to fill in the gap from the drying layer pulling away from the sides. So I'm thinking maybe it's a reaction between very wet coco and the aluminum sides of the pan. The black areas haven't expanded and the fruits are pretty...2d flush of KS...fat-assed li'l mofo's!

Thanks again!
