I dunno how accurate that site is, but its what I was looking at when I was thinking about dreads. Dont do it on impulse unless youre ready to buzz your head hehe

It's just like the story of the grasshopper and the octopus. All year long, the grasshopper kept burying acorns for winter, while the octopus mooched off his girlfriend and watched TV. But then the winter came, and the grasshopper died, and the octopus ate all his acorns. Also he got a race car. Is any of this getting through to you?

There are plenty of resources out there for you if you can: A. Use a search engine B. Read
Want fat dreads? Section out bigger sections. Skinny dreads? Smaller sections. Don't give a shit? Grab a clump of hair and start backcombing.
The backcombing itself is not hard to do, it's just tiring and even more so if you are doing it on your own hair. Get a friend to help and the process will go by much faster. Forget the rubber bands. Your dreads will look like shit for a while with our without them. Stay the hell away from wax.
Your hair will not want to do this at first. If you have not read up on what kind of soap/shampoo you should use, go do that now. It'd be shitty if you undo all your work just by using Suave in the shower.
Good luck. And again, stay away from wax.

whats the easier way of backcombing hair?(do i just need a metal comb?) instead of buying a ton of supplies..my hair naturally flows forward. hence why its harder for me.

for straight hair take a shower/wash hair before bed. then just towel dry and braid it. in the morning take the braids out and start the backcombing, etc.

your question confuses me, here is backcombing.

edit: the comb is going towards the hair
