it works well with eggs and a number of other things, but not liver!

i would just go with vegetable oil or rapeseed oil or something like that.

hemp seed oil might be good too, but is always a bit pricey over here, even more so than olive oil.

Must be a matter of taste.  About half the recipes I googled recommend bacon grease when frying liver.  Are you trying to tell me that my dear, sainted grandmother was wrong all these years?  Bacon grease rules!
