A few general shroom questions.
    #1049938 - 11/13/02 04:59 PM (22 years, 3 months ago)

myself and a friend are seriously considering growing our own mushies. we've both been reading up on various topics and checking posts on the shroomery boards to get as edumicated as possible, but there are a few questions i'd like to have answered by someone who knows what they're at for sure.

first of all, we've set our sights on growing cubies, which seems like the easiest and all around wisest choice, but we have not picked a strain. will the strain change a whole lot about how successful our harvest is? which strain would be best for amateur growers, but still pack a punch?

we're going with the brown rice flour/vermiculite substrate plan, with probably half a dozen cakes. if we follow the directions written here (http://www.fungifun.org/pf/pf_en.htm#materialien), and assuming we run into no serious problems, approx. how many grams (wet and dry) can I expect to harvest from each cake?

thanks in advance.

On a good cake you can expect the amount the cake weights, it will usually contamininate before the flushes stop.

kykeon: thanks for the advice. and no, we are not trying to make money. i'm simply covering all my bases to make sure this is an economically feasible project.
