White Bell Shaped Mushrooms growing on Horse/Cow Poo
    #10496310 - 06/12/09 09:18 PM (14 years, 10 months ago)

OK... I got a whole bunch of horse/cow poo from my local farm here in North Florida/ Clay County.

When I was at the farm, there were white mushrooms growing on it. I ask the farmer what it was and he said, " the only thing that grows on poo is psychoactive mushrooms." So in my mind... I was like, "EF yea... i'ma grab me a bunch of poo, stick it in the shade in the backyard and water it every so often to cultivate it." That's exactly what has happened!!!

There's a whole bunch growing from the POO!!!

Anywho, I wanna know what they are and if I can trip off of them.

Anyone care to help?

Thanks,

JOESMOE

Maybe if they were Psilocybe semilanceata then you could trip off of them but it would be way out of season for them seeing they prefer cold weather and they don't grow directly out of the shit, so wait for a TI :P

I will confess something that should be quite obvious, CC.  I love mushrooms, i.e. fungi.  I really do.  I am talking about a strong feeling, i.e. emotion, for them.  I think they are beautiful.  I even dream of them.

So... do you guys think it's edible? What IS this mushroom growing out of horse/cow poo and is it active?

When I bruise it... there is no blue. The gills are slightly apart. Being a dark brown/ grey. I think... GOtta double check that.

It has... some kind of light caramel yellow colour dusted on the top of the white cap. White stem. So far... I have not seen this mushroom  fully "bloom"...

I live in the jacksonville Florida area... kinda sort of.
