Habitat: Pine plantation, in needles, under sticks.
Gills: dark cream/light brown to medium brown (bigger mushies are more brown)
Stem: 1-10cm high, 5-15mm diameter, white, smooth, solid (flexible).
Cap: 2-5cm, browny orange with a more vivid center, smooth, smaller ones were conical while more mature ones flattened out.
Spore print color: violet/brown
Bruising: Minor darkening (light grey).
Other information: Smells like a supermarket mushroom.
Basically these look like gold tops in every way, shape and form apart from the fact that they aren't bruising blue. I have a mate who had some of the ones we picked and reckons he tripped off them (he's a bit of a fiend so if he was poisoned he would have told the difference). I'm still very hesitant to eat any because of the lack of bruising though. The guy I picked 'em with reckons that if they've only been growing in an area for one or two seasons then they'll be a bit weaker and won't bruise (I have no idea how valid this theory is).
No pics sorry, the mushies don't live with me. Any clues?

It sounds like you have the right kind, but I would never tell anyone that it's OK to consume a mushroom that I haven't personally eyeballed, so no pictures = no ID (at least not from me). The reason is that I have seen a lot of characteristics being described as what people wanted to see, not as what they really saw, simply because they wanted their finds to be active mushrooms.

The info is entirely accurate, can you explain the lack of bruising though?
Edit - I guess the only way to know for sure without pics is to try it, before I do though, are there any similar mushies in eastern vic that are potentially deadly?

Well they don't really look like any of them, can anyone validate the lack of bruising though? The way I've been taught is that if they ain't blue then they ain't active.

I'm also curious about this as I've seen similar mushrooms as smalls has described... All the usual qualities of a psilocybe, without the blueing...
